This four-(4) hour live virtual training is a free introductory training and is open to SAPC Network providers including:
• Registered and Certified Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselors
• LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs & Licensed Eligible (LE) AMFTs, ACSWs, APCCs
• Psychologists & Registered Psychological Associates
• Certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialists & Peer Support Specialists
• Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN) & Licensed Psychiatric Technicians (LPT)
• Registered Nurses & Nurse Practitioners
Training Description
The purpose of this four-(4) hour live interactive training is to provide participants with a detailed overview of FDA-approved medications that are available to treat alcohol, opioid, and tobacco use disorders within the Los Angeles County SAPC treatment network. Medications including buprenorphine, methadone, naloxone, naltrexone, acamprosate, disulfiram, bupropion, varenicline, and nicotine replacement therapy. The training will be covering the benefits and medication mechanisms, which will enhance the substance use disorder (SUD) treatment workforce to discuss medications for addiction treatment (MAT) options with patients. Stigma and health disparities associated with MAT will be explored and examined. Strategies, such as including increasing access to MAT, to address these stigma and health disparities, will be discussed. The training will conclude with identifying and applying best practices in making referrals to MAT.

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of the training, participants will be able to:
1. Apply at least two (2) strategies that can be used to address stigma and health disparities through increased access to (MAT).
2. List at least five (5) medications that are available to treat alcohol, opioid, and tobacco use disorders in Los Angeles County Substance Abuse Prevention and Control (SAPC) treatment network and identify their benefits.
3. Describe how the utilization of medications for addiction treatment (MAT) can improve patient engagement and outcomes in SUD treatment.
4. Integrate three (3) best practices of utilizing education and behavioral techniques in making referrals to MAT
